Jiamin Hou

Research Associate at University of Cambridge

Emmy Noether Group Leader (from Jan 2026)

My group focuses on bridging the observational data and fundamental physics. In particular, the group is interested in applying higher-order statistics to galaxy data to extract cosmological information from the galaxy distribution, study the growth of cosmic structures, probe early-Universe physics, and test fundamental symmetries such as parity violation on cosmological scales.

About Me

I completed my PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics and obtained my degree from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München in 2020. I received the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship in the 2020 call, with MPE as the home institute and jointly hosted by the University of Florida. I am currently a research associate at the University of Cambridge, affiliated with the Institute of Astronomy and the Kavli Institute for Cosmology.

My Life Interest

My passion for the Universe stems from my passion in comprehending time and existence. I want to explore the language behind the world and the flow of life. I prefer to observe before I can fully express my respect for the nature.

Apart from my research interest, I enjoy poems, scotches, extreme sports, and German bread.
